For everyone who has to go to work despite the corona pandemic, it is important to have good ventilation in the workplace, according to Fredrik Haux at the Swedish Work Environment Authority.
The SARS-CoV-2 virus leading to covid19 should be vented as far as possible to reduce the spread of infection.
– It is important that you have the ventilation on at all times. That you do not turn off completely at night, but you can reduce the flows a little grand, says Fredrik Haux who is an expert on indoor environments and ventilation at the Swedish Work Environment Authority:
– Is it common to turn off at night?
– It is often common, because you save a lot of money on it. You can lower a little grand, but before people come to the workplace, there should be normal flows at least two hours before. It is also advisable to have normal flows two hours after the last one has passed.
– The important thing is that pollutants that are present in the indoor environment, including particles and viruses, must be ventilated out.
Fredrik Haux states that there is no research that has shown exactly what would be required to create a corona-safe workplace.
Some problems may occur with ventilation systems that use return air, that you filter air on the way out, and that is returned to the room.
– It should not be used in the case of covid-19 or SARS-CoV-2. You should turn off all return air because there is a risk of returning infection.
A good method is cross-drawing. For schools, for example, he recommends a quick airing.
– During the breaks, it is appropriate to do a good ventilation, cross strokes if possible, so that it will be healthy and good for the next lesson.
