Minister of Defense Trine Bramsen (S) has announced an investigation by the Defense Intelligence Service after the Danish Intelligence Service (TET) in an analysis raised criticism of the intelligence service.
Read the main points from TET, as they are referenced in a press release, here:
* The Authority assesses that the Defense Intelligence Service from 2014 to 2020 in connection with inspections has “withheld key and crucial information for the Authority and provided the Authority with incorrect information on matters”.
It should have happened around how the Defense Intelligence Service has obtained and passed on information.
* Central parts of the Armed Forces’ Intelligence Service’s collection of information are at risk of information being collected about Danish citizens.
* The management has failed to follow up on indications of espionage within the area of the Ministry of Defense.
* The Authority assesses that there has been a culture in the management of the Defense Intelligence Service and parts of the service where “unjustified activities or inappropriate conditions are sought to be shelved” and hidden from control.
* The Defense Intelligence Service has had illegal activities that, among other things, involve “obtaining and passing on a significant amount of information about Danish citizens”.
* The Defense Intelligence Service has “processed” information about an employee of the Danish Intelligence Service.
