In his new book, Artur Gorzelak takes us to meet the untamed nature of the polar zones. The publication presents as many as four expeditions abounding in surprises, which the inhabitants of the temperate climatic zone have when encountering the harsh realities of the North (and in one case the South).
The first adventure is a marathon organized in the distant Spitsbergen in the vicinity of polar bears, which is also an opportunity to visit the Polish Polar Station Hornsund. Then we accompany the author on a tour around Iceland on the famous road No. 1 (in sometimes extreme conditions), and a moment later set off to the Kola Peninsula in pursuit of the northern lights. The whole thing is closed with hiking among glaciers and national parks of distant Patagonia.
Book “Towards the poles” it does not resemble traditional guides, but is a perfect complement to them – describes z “first-hand”challenges that will be faced by travelers to these corners of the world. There are plenty of humorous situations and anecdotes, and everything is embellished with a solid but accessible dose of natural and historical knowledge, with a large share of Polish themes.
The premiere of the book will take place on September 3, 2020 at 19:00 in a travel cafe There and back (ul. Antoni Odyńca 71, Warsaw). The premiere will also be broadcast online on the cafe’s fan page, as well as the author’s fan page: In judoga on a bicycle.
