The verdict sentenced Zubier to a suspended 22-month sentence for the crimes. He was also ordered to pay the state about 13,500 euros in funds raised in his name after the attack on an online fundraising site.
At the same time, the woman who started the fundraising campaign was also found guilty of participating in fundraising crimes and fined 25 days, for a total of 800 euros.
The court found that Zubier, a British citizen living in Sweden, had lied about his income in a guilty terrorist trial when he handed the court a forged working document stating that he had lost income from a Swedish ambulance attack.
Last year, Zubier admitted to falsifying documents in the Finnish state’s application for benefits, but denied allegations of funding.
Zubier was seriously injured when he tried to save the life of one stabbing victim at the Turku Market Square on August 18, 2017 and became known as a tourist who became a hero overnight.
