Serious weather warnings are released around the country today, with yellow and orange warnings being placed in many areas of the island between 20:00 tonight and 23:59 tomorrow.
Over the next two days, on the northeast and east coasts, they can expect an orange stage from a northern snowstorm, where mountain roads will be impassable this evening, and strong winds and heavy rainfall will continue until late in the morning.
To the northwest, a northerly snowstorm can also be expected as temperatures drop close to freezing. This yellow alert is valid from 23:00 in the evening until 12:00 in the afternoon tomorrow.
The East Fjords and southeastern areas should be covered for yellow points and a strong gale, which starts in the evening and lasts until late in the morning. In the East Fjords, this strong wind will have sleet and snowfall, which makes higher mountain roads difficult for and in the southeast, gusts that reach 30-35 m / s, make driving especially dangerous for vehicles with trailers.
The central highlands are also in a state of emergency for yellow storms with northerly snowstorms and strong winds. This warning is in place from 5:00 pm tonight to 11:59 pm tomorrow night.
The Icelandic Meteorological Office advises people in these areas to be careful and take care on the roads.
