Now the Swedish Academy may be able to buy Börshuset from the City of Stockholm, SVT’s Kulturnyheterna reports.
The question arises from a conflict where the City of Stockholm wants the Swedish Academy to start paying rent for the use of the 2,000 square meter premises in Börshuset.
The academy, on the other hand, points to a 100-year-old agreement, in which they say that they should have already paid rent and that that agreement would apply “forever”.
But now say Stockholm City’s real estate councilor Dennis Wedin (M) that they should investigate the issue of selling Börshuset to the Swedish Academy, as the Academy has previously expressed an interest in buying the building.
The Swedish Academy’s permanent secretary Mats Malm writes to Kulturnyheterna that they have a good dialogue with the City of Stockholm, but he declines to comment on the issue further.
