Theories about vaccination conspiracy continue to haunt the internet, so perhaps it’s not so surprising that a new poll from Epinion reveals that people in Denmark are not convinced that they will get a coronavirus jab.
Some 20 percent are unsure whether they will choose to be vaccinated against coronavirus or not 10 percent said they would reject the chance.
Positive figure?
The National Board of Health took positives from the vote. In a conversation with DR, its chief physician Bolette Sรธborg said that the results showed that the population in Denmark “can largely see a need to be vaccinated, but also wants more information.”
“Once we know the specific vaccine, it’s really important to get information out there that should be valid and based on everything we know,” she continued.
It follows the belief of Lars รstergaard and Jens Lundgren, professors of infectious diseases, who told DR that vaccine skepticism probably plays a significant role in the 30 percent who are unsure about getting a vaccine.
All over the world, the debate over the safety and usefulness of vaccines has always been a contentious issue.
But when?
Although there is no vaccine, such questions are of course meaningless, but it is still too early to predict when a vaccine will arrive in Denmark exactly.
The Danish Medicines Agency has stated that they expect a vaccine at some point next year.
Denmark and the EU currently have an agreement on a vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University. The agreement ensures that Denmark will have access to 2.4 million doses of the vaccine if the drug is approved.
AstraZeneca trials resumed on Saturday after being put on hold earlier this month when a trialist was admitted.
