Fresh chicken withdrawn from sale due to salmonella

Matvælastofnun and Reykjagarður hf. they withdrew fresh chicken from sale because it was suspected of having salmonella. Reykjagarður stopped selling and withdrew one batch of chicken. The suspicion appeared during regular slaughter checks of chickens.

The names of the products that have been recalled are: Holta, Kjörfugl and Krónan (whole chicken, breasts, fillets, pieces)

Meat was distributed in stores all over Iceland: Hagkaup, Krónan, KR, Kjarval, Nettó, Costco, Extra24, Heimkaup, Kaupfélag Skagfirðinga, Bjarnabúð, Kjörbúðin, Hlíðakaup.

“In accordance with the manufacturer’s quality policy and procedures, the distribution of the products has been suspended and their recall has started” – says a statement by Holta kjúklingi.

According to the Matvælastofnun announcement, consumers who have purchased chicken meat with the batch number of the product listed above are asked to return it to the appropriate store or directly to Reykjagarður hf., Fossháls 1, 110 Reykjavík.
