On Wednesday, the National Association of Local Authorities (KL) and the Danish Regions launched 12 common benchmarks as input to a future plan from the government for the healthcare system of the future.
Here is an overview of some of the landmarks:
* Stronger cross-sectoral collaboration in healthcare and politically rooted local collaborations.
A formalized collaboration must be established for each of the 21 emergency hospitals in Denmark. The collaboration, which also includes psychiatry, must consist of political dialogue and close professional collaboration.
Health collaborations must be made that coordinate the patient process for citizens who need both the municipality, hospital and general practitioner. This applies not least to the elderly with chronic diseases and people with mental disorders.
National agreements must be implemented, including financial agreements and national action plans.
* Quality plan for strengthened efforts for, among others, the elderly, chronic patients and citizens with psychiatric disorders.
The focus must be on establishing early interventions, self-care, training and the like, so that illness and disease exacerbation can be avoided.
KL and the Danish Regions want the municipal emergency area to be developed so that there is closer cooperation.
Among other things, it must be possible to use video solutions in the collaboration between the general practice, the hospitals and the emergency functions.
* Finances and data strengthened.
There must be increased capacity and professionalism in the municipalities. There must be better interaction between the sectors, which requires investment at national level.
Common data is needed to support collaboration on patient outcomes across sectors. The municipalities must therefore document according to the same standards, and the sharing of data between the different sectors must be expanded.
