The trial was held today in the case of comedian Aron Flam, who used a remade version of the classic work A Swedish tiger on a book cover. Now he risks damages in the millions.
Aron Flam’s tiger winks with one eye, greets himself with his paw and wears an armband with a swastika.
He has used the tiger in social media, as well as on the cover of his book This is a Swedish tiger, which is about how the Social Democrats acted against Nazi Germany during the war.
The prosecutor believes that Aron Flam’s tiger is a violation of copyright law.
The private Emergency Preparedness Museum in Helsingborg owns the rights to the tiger, and demands Aron Flam in the millions. The museum’s representatives today do not want to comment on the case.
The defense has during the day told about the story of the now deceased Bertil Almqvist, and showed his satirical drawings which were published in Aftonbladet, among other places.
According to lawyer Monique Wadstedt, Almqvist himself used the tiger in his parody drawings directed at the government, and should probably not mind that another satirist, Aron Flam, does the same thing 60 years later.
However, Bertil Almqvist’s daughter, Christina Billgren, who was heard in court today, does not think so.
– He wanted his things for himself, he did not like that people started picking with his stuff, she says.
