This weekend is warm and partly sunny in the southern part of Finland. At the same time, the strengthening of the high-pressure system in Lapland will bring cold and gray conditions to the north in the autumn.
On Saturday, mercury could rise above 20 degrees Celsius in southern, eastern and central Finland, Yle’s meteorologist says Anne Borgström.
“It’s a great weekend ahead. In some areas, there may be some morning mist that only returns in the afternoon, but it’s part of the fall, ”he says.
According to Borgström, temperatures rise by more than 20 degrees Celsius at the end of September, on average once every five years.
A warm spell for next week
After a cool spell, the air has warmed again in recent days in many areas, and September may end up warmer than average. At this point, it looks like warmer conditions will continue in the south at least until the beginning of next week.
The nights are mild, mostly 8-13 degrees, but drop to 3 degrees in Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu.
But while it may still feel like summer in the south, there is clearly an autumn atmosphere in northern Finland. In Lapland, the temperature stays below 10 degrees this weekend and drops slightly below frost at night. It is planned to spread the rain area from Ostrobothnia to southern Lapland.
Most of the winds are weak or moderate from the south and / or east, but in Lapland the north wind blows on Friday night.
