The spread of corona infection continues to increase in Sweden. Stockholm is one of the regions where the increase is most noticeable.
– What we have seen in recent weeks is that the infection has risen alarmingly enough. Still at fairly low levels, but there is a clear tendency that the declining spread of infection has decreased and that we have an increase, says Björn Eriksson, director of health and medical care in the Stockholm Region.
In the Stockholm Region the proportion of those infected who have tested for covid-19 has increased for several weeks now. Last week, 4.1 percent of the more than 23,000 who tested themselves had an ongoing corona infection, compared to 2.2 percent the week before.
– Now I wonder if you do not start to be careless, two meters has become smaller during the summer. It is serious, it has consequences, says Björn Eriksson.
At today’s press conference with the Swedish Public Health Agency, there was talk of an increase in several places in the country. Karin Tegmark Wisell is unit manager at the Swedish Public Health Agency:
– We have an increase and it is noticeable when we look at the proportion of positives. Last week we had an increase and are now up to 2.4 percent of the tests performed which were positive, says Karin Tegmark Wisell.
Last week A total of approximately 129,000 tests were performed throughout the country. 2.4 percent of those who tested themselves thus turned out to be infected with covid-19, which is an increase from the week before when 1.6 percent tested positive.
These are clusters, because when a fourth national random check of almost 2,500 people was carried out, the increase was not noticed.
– It indicates that what we see in different regions we do not capture in this type of smaller sample. It is obvious that it is forms of clusters that are spreading. But we will continue to analyze data, says Karin Tegmark Wisell.
