When the health authorities update the number of infections every day, not all infected people in Denmark appear.
The reason is that the authorities can not register the thousands of tests that are performed every day by private companies.
It writes Politiken.
Politiken has spoken to four of the largest suppliers on the market, Eurofins, Pentabase, Qlife and Centogene. They estimate that right now, around 5,000 tests are conducted daily under private auspices.
However, the number of privately performed coronate tests is based on an estimate.
The public sector does not register the tests carried out. The Statens Serum Institut (SSI) does not have guidelines and systems in place to receive them, writes Politiken.
The newspaper has spoken to suppliers, just as emails from SSI to a supplier show that SSI cannot receive the information in the relevant databases.
– In corona testing, the public and private do not play together at the moment. We are currently running 5000-6000 tests a week and have on average one to two positive answers a day. But our data can not be reported anywhere and therefore falls into a black hole, says the CEO of the company Qlife, Thomas Warthoe, to Politiken.
Karen Angeliki Krogfelt, professor of medical microbiology at Roskilde University, calls it “somewhat worse mess” because a lot of knowledge and data is lost.
It must be fixed, says the Liberal Party’s health spokesman Martin Geertsen to Politiken.
The National Board of Health has no comments on the case and refers to the Statens Serum Institut.
On Thursday, Politiken asked a number of questions to SSI, which responded with “that we are aware of the problem”.
The private market of coronatest has flourished, especially because the response time in the public test system in several places in the country has become longer.
The company Pentabase, for example, conducts around 1000 tests a day for companies and consumers. The test answer is available within 4-24 hours depending on the price paid.
According to the newspaper, the market expects that up to 80,000-100,000 daily corona tests will be carried out privately soon.
