A large spill on Russia’s east coast is likely to contain a water – soluble poison.
The World Wide Fund for Nature says this today, noting that an area of yellow foam is now moving along the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula, northeast of Japan and west of North America.
In its tracks are dead animals and plants, both in the water and on land, and people who have come into contact with the water have shown symptoms of poisoning.
According to Greenpeace, this is an ecological disaster.
Russian authorities reject the information.
