Following an unjustified assault on a mother and her daughter in Ballerup over the weekend, a judge on Monday remanded a 35-year-old man in custody.
He has been described by the police as mentally unstable, and the detention does not take place in a detention center.
Instead, he is placed in a surrogate, the police inform about the ruling handed down by the Court in Glostrup. It is unclear whether this implies that the man must be in a psychiatric ward.
It was Saturday morning at Kornvænget in Ballerup that the 42-year-old woman and her 11-year-old daughter were attacked with a knife.
Both were hit. The mother was added an actual plug, while the child got a more superficial cut, Copenhagen West Region Police have previously stated.
After the assault, the perpetrator ran off and threw the knife away.
On the night before Sunday, he was wanted in public with his name and photo, and later the police managed to arrest him.
According to the police charge, he tried to kill the two. But the judge’s ruling on custody is that there is a reasonable suspicion of serious violence so far.
