In response to the growing number of infections, of which there were as many as 99 yesterday, the country’s authorities have decided to introduce stricter restrictions than those in force in other parts of the country. The new rules are expected to apply for a period of two weeks.
Epidemiologist Þórólfur Guðnason, proposed the Minister of Health yesterday to introduce additional restrictions due to the fact that on Monday a record number of infections was diagnosed in this wave of the epidemic. Following this, the Minister issued a decree tightening up activities in the capital.
The new rules that have been introduced in the capital city of Reykjavik, Hafnarfjörður, Kópavogur, Mosfellsbær, Kjósarhreppur, Garðabær and Seltjarnarnes will remain in force until October 19.

– In stores where it is not possible to maintain a 2-meter space between customers, people are required to wear masks over their faces.
– Pools and spa closed.
– All kinds of sports activities in the halls and sports halls and exercises involving human contact or contact risk or where the use of shared equipment may create a risk of indoor infection are not allowed. That’s why all gyms were closed again.
-It is allowed to play sports outdoors, but no more than 20 spectators at such sports events. Viewers should wear masks and sit in designated places.

– Restaurants may be open until 21:00. However, pubs and entertainment venues must remain closed.
-Residents are encouraged to stay at home and restrict travel to and from the capital area.

-Families are asked to only send one family member for shopping.
– Event organizers are asked to postpone them for at least two weeks.
-Maximum number of people who can meet in one place is 20. This applies to the entire country.
Rules for children born in 2005 and later:
-Despite the closure of adult pools, school pools for children of a certain age may remain open.
– Sports activities for children are also allowed.
-It is not allowed to conduct sports competitions among children, during which there is a risk of mixing groups.
-As before, the 2 meter distance rule does not apply to children.
