Foreign Minister Ann Linde (S) is deeply concerned about the information that emerges in the documentary Mullvaden, which shows that North Korea circumvents sanctions for selling weapons. Together with her Danish Foreign Minister colleague, she now wants to raise the issue of new sanctions against the country.
In the Dokument Utfra documentary, which is shown on SVT, Danish Ulrich Larsen has infiltrated the international North Korean friendship association KFA for ten years. With the help of a friend who plays a businessman, secret arms trade meetings are held, including at the North Korean embassy in Stockholm.
The deals are presented as examples of how North Korea circumvents international sanctions for selling military equipment abroad.
By reason of The new information now wants Foreign Minister Ann Linde (S), together with Denmark’s Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod, to raise the issue of new sanctions against the country.
– It is shocking information that emerges. That is why I and the Danish Foreign Minister have reacted as strongly as we have. We will inform the UN Sanctions Committee of what has come out. We will also address the issue in the EU, says Ann Linde (S).
Do you see further sanctions against North Korea in connection with this?
– We’ll have to look at it. We already have sanctions from the EU and from the UN. Now we first raise it with the UN Sanctions Committee and then with the EU. Then we will see what the next step will be, says Ann Linde (S).
