Fake bankers have cheated older people in West Zealand to hand over their Dankort and password.
This is stated by the Central and West Zealand Police in the official 24-hour report on Tuesday.
Police on Monday received two reports of elderly people who had been contacted by a stranger who pretended to be from the bank.
The elderly people had handed over their card information, after which several thousand kroner had been withdrawn from their accounts.
This is not the first time that the trust of older people is being exploited to the fullest.
It has been the theme of several criminal cases. For example, five men in North Zealand exploited the authority beliefs of several elderly people and the mentally handicapped when they pretended to be from the police in the period 2017 to 2019.
After this, the victims’ NemID was used to take out quick loans worth several million kroner.
The money was then paid into accounts over which the young men were in control.
On October 2, the last of the five was sentenced to three years and three months in prison.
Police urge to be extremely skeptical of these calls, which may occur without a specific reason
