In two weeks, pharmacies have vaccinated as many people against the flu as they did throughout last season.
Around 120,000 have already been vaccinated at the 380 pharmacies that offer the flu vaccine.

This is stated by the Danish Pharmacists’ Association in a press release.
The figure is calculated from 1 October, when an offer of free vaccination against influenza for the elderly over the age of 65 and people in selected risk groups was launched.
Already on the first day of the offer, approximately 17,000 received a flu vaccine at the pharmacies.
The National Board of Health has recommended that vaccinations against influenza be targeted at people over the age of 65 and particularly vulnerable. This is because there is a risk of running out of flu vaccines.
This has led pharmacies to temporarily suspend vaccination against influenza by other groups.
The risk groups include pregnant women in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters, severely overweight and early retirees. People with certain chronic diseases are also counted.
Vaccination against influenza is particularly important during the corona crisis, according to the Danish Pharmacists’ Association.
– It is fantastic that the Danes in this way have taken the message of the importance of being vaccinated this year.
– It is somewhat the same groups that are at risk of getting sick with covid-19 as with influenza. If they are vaccinated against influenza, hopefully not many people will get sick from it and in that way burden the health service, says Birthe Søndergaard, health professional director of the association.
The association states that about half of citizens over the age of 65 were vaccinated against influenza in 2019.
However, one would like to reach higher up in 2020. This is due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
