In the last 24 hours, 500 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in Denmark. Two people have died, and a total of 110 have been hospitalized, the Statens Serum Institut informs on Saturday.
The number of new infections is the highest in about two weeks. The last time there were 500 or more was October 2, when there were 536 new infections.
Christian Wamberg, chief physician at the intensive care unit at Bispebjerg Hospital, nevertheless notes that the figures are reasonably stable.
– We have what looks like the status quo. All in all, we only see what we have seen in the last three to four weeks, he says.
– You can hope that the virus shrinks. But I see it as realistic that we can hopefully maintain the level we see now, the next few months.
There are no more inpatients than there were on Friday. The number of inpatients connected to a respirator drops from 11 to 10. In addition to those in a ventilator, 6 people are admitted to the intensive care unit.
– In relation to the total hospital capacity, it is a small and affordable number, so in no way is the health service pressured by this, says Christian Wamdrup.
The number of newly infected is based on 37,518 samples. The proportion of people who tested positive was about 1.3 percent.
After the last 24 hours of two deaths, a total of 679 people have now died with covid-19 since the pandemic hit the country. A total of 34,941 cases of infection have been found in Denmark, where far more are being tested than at the beginning.
– In relation to inpatients and the dead, this is something close to a dream scenario. Especially when you look at what is happening especially in Southern Europe, says Christian Wamberg.
Jammerbugt Municipality tops with 212 infected the list of the municipalities that have the most infected seen in relation to the population. The so-called incidence rate is the last seven days infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the municipality.
After Jammerbugt Municipality come Faxe, Struer, Billund and Vallensbรฆk, which thus constitute the municipalities with relatively the most infected in Denmark.
