After the laser negotiations crashed between the social partners, Minister of Labor Eva Nordmark (S) said last night that she intends to invite the three parties for talks next week.
But both PTK and the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise are today clear that negotiations via the government are not relevant.
– To account for what we have negotiated, we will of course do, but we will not put ourselves in any negotiation or in any mediation situation with the government, says Martin Wästfelt, chief negotiator at the privately employed civil servants’ union PTK.
Mattias Dahl is Deputy CEO and Chief Negotiator at the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise.
– We very much like to meet the Minister of Labor every day to discuss necessary reforms in the labor market, but when it comes to negotiations with the counterparties, then we take care of them ourselves, he says.
That was yesterday afternoon as the news came that the negotiations between the social partners had stalled a second time.
The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and PTK, said yes to a settlement, but a unanimous LO board could not accept the offer. Thus, the infected las issue ended up on the political playing field of the government again.
Minister of Labor Eva Nordmark said last night in interviews that it is now a difficult and new situation, and that she will contact the parties.
– This week, I will invite the parties to have a dialogue about how they see continued views on developments in this issue. It is the case that there have been continued intensive negotiations, and there have been a lot of proposals on the table, so it is clear that I am very anxious to listen to the parties and what assessment they make, she told TV4.
But because Swedish business said yes to an agreement, just like PTK, there is much more to talk about, according to the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise’s Deputy CEO Mattias Dahl.
– We accept the agreement. If the Minister of Labor wants to talk, it should happen with LO, they are the ones who have said no, says Mattias Dahl.
Ekot has not reached LO’s chairman Susanna Gideonsson, but according to LO’s press service, the message from her is that should an invitation come from the Minister of Labor, it is something that LO must consider then.
