The Danish Foreign Minister, Jeppe Kofod (S), has for the second time in a short week been tested negative for coronavirus.
It informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
Jeppe Kofod has been tested twice for coronavirus after attending a meeting in Luxembourg with the foreign ministers of the other EU countries on Monday.
Following the meeting, it emerged on Saturday that the Austrian Foreign Minister, Alexander Schallenberg, had been tested positive for coronavirus. Later on Saturday, Belgian Foreign Minister Sophie Wilmès also announced that she had been confirmed infected.
According to Reuters, a spokeswoman for the Austrian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that the Austrian Schallenberg may have been infected at the EU meeting.
“There is a suspicion that Schallenberg may have been infected at the Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Luxembourg on Monday,” the spokeswoman said.
She stated that Schallenberg was symptom-free on Saturday and was tested as part of a routine.
After Monday’s meeting, Jeppe Kofod was tested for the first time on Tuesday. Here he got a negative answer.
As a precaution, he has been tested an extra time on Saturday. This answer has also now turned out to be negative.
On Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Danish Foreign Minister had no symptoms of infection and only spoke briefly with his Austrian colleague on Monday, where they were both wearing masks.
