Last night, an attempt to record a spectacular video in front of an oncoming train caused a stop in train traffic in Laxå. Exposing oneself to traffic danger and filming the same is a trend from social media.
– Apparently the intention was to film when it is stepped off the rails as late as possible when the train comes rushing, says Lars Hedelin, spokesperson for the police in Bergslagen.
It was half past one ten o’clock last night when a train driver alerted that a person may have been hit by the train when the station in Laxå was passed. The Swedish Transport Administration decided on a train stop and rescue personnel were sent to the scene. Once there, they found a man in his 20s who admitted that he was on the track. The man was alone at the scene and no other suspects are currently present. A preliminary investigation has been initiated and the man is suspected of sabotage regarding serious disturbance to public transport.
The police in Bergslagen have not been involved in similar cases. But a similar procedure but when it comes to cars has been reported in the media. These are young people who challenge each other to stay on the road as long as possible when a vehicle comes driving. These kinds of challenges occur on social media.
– As I said before, I have a hard time talking about this without resorting to almost invective. I think this is so completely insanely handled. I do not understand how you can expose yourself and others to this, says Lars Hedelin.
