From Iceland – Still confused? Simple limitation summary

From Iceland - Still confused? Simple limitation summary

After the expansion of the two-meter rule across the country that took effect at midnight last night, we have decided to make a simple summary of all current restrictions.

The restrictions on meetings, which cover all gatherings for a maximum of 20 people, took effect at midnight and will continue until November 10. Other regulations that apply to the capital area will continue until 3 November. When the rules were first implemented, they were valid until October 19, but they have been extended.

If you are not sure where you are, the capital area includes Reykjavík, Seltjarnarnes, Mosfellsbær, Kjósarhreppur, Hafnarfjörður, Garðabær and Kópavogur.

Masks are now mandatory all over the country in public spaces where a two-meter distance can not be guaranteed, so remember to have one handy whenever you may need to shoot yourself in the shops.

Restaurants may be open, but must close after 21:00. Pubs and clubs though remain closedas well as swimming pools and other services that require long-term contact, such as beauty salons, beauty salons, massage parlors, tattoo parlors, dog salons and tanning salons. Of course, this does not apply to the necessary health care, but please wear a mask when visiting your doctor.

If you are concerned about physical activity, organized group exercises that are non-contact and do not require common equipment are still allowed. However, all participants must be registered. Golf and other sports that do not require contact are allowed again.

The effectiveness of these restrictions depends on everyone’s participation in them and they will be reassessed in the coming weeks as we see what effect they have.
