The police have now arrested Peter Madsen and driven him away from Nyvej, where he has been sitting for several hours after an escape from Herstedvester Prison in Albertslund. This is stated by the Copenhagen West Region Police on Twitter.
Peter Madsen is serving a sentence for the murder of the Swedish journalist Kim Wall, who was killed and dismembered in Madsen’s home-built submarine Nautilus. After this, the corpses were thrown into the Sound.
On Tuesday, Madsen managed to escape from Herstedvester Prison, but on Nyvej, which is located on the opposite side of the busy Roskildevej, Madsen has been surrounded by the police for a long time.
Shortly after 1 pm, the Copenhagen West Region Police inform that the arrest operation has been completed and that Peter Madsen has been driven away.
So far, neither the police nor the Danish Prison and Probation Service have provided information on how the escape took place.
Copenhagen West Region Police have stated that a press briefing will be held later Tuesday.
The arrest operation on Nyvej is over, and an arrested person has been driven away from the scene.
We invite you to a press briefing a little later – more details to follow – and until then we will not comment on the matter. #politidk– Vestegnens Politi (@VestegnsPoliti) October 20, 2020
