This is the third time that there are over 600 infected in the daily update.
However, it is not possible to compare the infection numbers with the spring one to one, because today much more extensive testing is carried out and therefore more cases are discovered.
The 630 cases of infection have been found among over 43,000 samples. This means that about 1.4 percent of the tests were positive.
At a press conference on Wednesday, professional director of the Statens Serum Institut Kåre Mølbak says that the infection is back at the level in September.
– 630 is a high number. We are back at the level we saw in the last half of September, and that is of course worrying, says Kåre Mølbak.
He points out that the development last week – during the autumn holidays – went the wrong way with 19 percent more cases of infection.
– 19 percent may not sound like much, but it must be seen in relation to the fact that far fewer were tested than usual during the autumn holidays, says Kåre Mølbak.
– It seems that we are heading into a period of higher disease incidence and higher infection, but fortunately we are still at a point where the epidemic is under control and the number of inpatients is still modest, he says.
While the number of infections is higher than before, the number of inpatients has decreased by six patients. Thus, there are 122 inpatients with corona infection in the country’s hospitals. In the spring, the number of admissions at one time was over 500.
Of the current inpatients, 16 are in an intensive care unit. Nine of them are so ill that they are attached to a respirator.
Two more corona-related deaths have been reported.
