The Liberal Party’s chairman, Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, will intervene in cases of violations in the Liberal Party’s Youth (VU).
He says this to Politiken, prior to TV2 bringing a documentary about violations and abuse in several youth parties.
– We are not the same association, but we originate from the same ideology, and we have, as the names indicate, a very close relationship.
– But this, this is something I will get involved in, he says.
In the documentary, which is broadcast on Thursday on TV2, but which tv2.dk already mentions, a woman – Tine – talks about the culture in the Liberal Party’s youth.
She says she was afraid to speak out in the youth party.
– I remember that at several parties we girls were told that we could take off our bras and panties and hang them up on a clothesline, and then we could get a bar card for it, she says to TV2.
She also tells about an event in VU in 2012. Here, a man had intercourse with her, despite her trying to say no.
Despite her report, the police chose not to file a criminal case.
Jakob Ellemann-Jensen says that the Liberal Party has recently launched several initiatives around sexism and abusive behavior.
Among other things, the party has hired an external consulting firm to handle cases of abuse and sexism, which the Liberal Youth can also make use of.
– Now we have looked at ourselves first, but we will also roll it out in other parts of our organization.
– Both in the Liberal Party’s Youth, but also in the Liberal Party’s national organization, he says to Politiken.
