Since the debut album “Philharmonics” from 2010, fans from all over the world have adored the bright Dane and her very special ability to make her piano playing and her delicate vocals meet and merge.
Preferably with a cello as the cuddle mate.
At home, she attracted particular attention with her debut album, which in 2011 sold five times platinum and paved the way for as many as five awards at the Danish Music Awards.
Since then, the rest of the world has also embraced the slender Dane, and film directors have long since opened their eyes to Obel’s mythical and evocative tones.
Thus, she is credited for no less than 44 soundtracks, where especially series like the American “Big Little Lies” and the Canadian “Cardinal” stand out.
Agnes Caroline Thaarup Obel was born and raised in Copenhagen, where her musical parents from childhood set her at the piano.
Her mother played Chopin for her, while even in her early teens she put CDs with Massive Attack and Portishead in the player.
Agnes attended Det Frie Gymnasium and then studied Culture and Language Meeting studies at Roskilde University, before continuing her studies in Berlin in 2006.
And here she was hanging. In an apartment in the district of Neukölln with her boyfriend Alex Brüel Flagstad, who today is her husband.
With the German capital as a base, in 2009 she seriously put the university world behind her and embarked on her musical journey.
It has so far taken her around most of the world – from the United States to Australia and from Barcelona to Beijing.
And judging by the amount of fans who demand her concerts, there is no reason to believe it will not do it again.
