At a press conference tonight, France’s terror prosecutor, Jean-Francois Ricard, said the suspected perpetrator arrested by police was a Tunisian who had recently arrived in Nice via Italy.
– The police found a backpack with two telephones, a Koran and three knives. It is being investigated as an Islamist terrorist act, says Ekot’s foreign reporter Beatrice Janzon.
It is not a person known to French security authorities in the past.
Following the act, the level of terrorist threats has been raised to the highest in France.
