Today, Minister of Labor Eva Nordmark announced that the government will adhere to the agreement between the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and PTK in the work of changing labor law.
The question is still to what extent the government will meet LO, which of course said no to this agreement.
Kommunal’s chairman Tobias Baudin:
– What we lack and where we think it is too weak, it was this opportunity to be able to stack fixed-term employment on top of each other. We also want to get rid of what is called planing, lower the employment rate and thus the salary from one day to the next. It was too weak there and we want improvements there. We will influence politics now to get through.
Do you perceive from Eva Nordmark and the government that they are willing to go to LO to meet?
– Yes, we interpret it as there is an opening to make changes and we will take it.
According to Eva Nordmark, the government will now begin work on making the parties’ agreement new legislation, which must be in place before the end of the term.
She emphasizes that it is important that the new legislation works for all parties, which can be interpreted as the government opening up to change the agreement in a way that also allows LO to accept it.
– For me, it is absolutely central that it must work for everyone who works in the labor market and that we ensure legislation that the parties can continue to sign collective agreements from. Now the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and PTK have been very clear that they want a main agreement. This also means that when we come up with new legislation on labor law, we will see how LO and others choose to do. My responsibility is the legislation, it is not the collective agreements.
But neither the Center Party nor the Liberals agree to give LO influence.
– It is not the case that LO leaves a negotiating table and then will receive favors once the government starts and will work with the proposal that comes in, says Nyamko Sabuni, Liberal party leader.
The Left Party’s Jonas Sjรถstedt on the other hand, demands that the government listen to LO:
– If you listen to LO and negotiate something that they think is good for their members, then everything is solved. If the government wanted to run over LO and impose on them legislation they do not want, then Stefan Lรถfven can not remain as prime minister.
