The girl was killed while the mother was slightly injured.
After the collision, the motorist fled the scene on foot.
The police quickly became interested in the 21-year-old, who was wanted by name and picture, and on Thursday evening they managed to find him.
“Since the collision, we have worked intensively to find the suspect and now arrested man, as we have a strong suspicion that he was the one who drove the car and then fled the scene,” said Chief Inspector Jørgen Bergen Skov in the press release.
– In this connection, we have carried out a number of investigative steps, and have, among other things, searched several addresses in the metropolitan area, and this has led to the arrest this evening.
The details of the arrest, or where it took place, the police do not say anything about.
The 21-year-old will be produced in constitutional interrogation on Friday, with the prosecutor likely to ask the judge to close the doors to the public.
