On Thursday, Valmet Automotive will start recruiting 400 employees for the Uusikaupunki car plant in Southwest Finland.
The company is responding to the increased demand for cars – as production volumes increase, new work will begin as early as January 2021.
According to Valmet, the recruitment schedule is challenging as it has to hire 400 new employees over seven weeks to have enough time to train them and stick to the production schedule.
Focus on areas with high unemployment
The recruitment process focuses especially on areas in Finland with a high unemployment rate. According to Valmet, previous work experience is valued, but applicants do not need to be familiar with the automotive industry.
The new employees work in all production departments of the car factory – car body welding shop, paint shop, assembly and internal logistics.
Due to the constraints imposed by the coronavirus situation, most of the recruitment process takes place online, the company said.
