The accident happened on Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm on Peter Bangs Vej in Valby. From a side road, the car drove at high speed across Peter Bangs Vej and hit the girl and her mother.
The child lost his life while the mother suffered minor injuries.
The motorist ran off on foot, and the police then called for the man with name and photo.
– We were right on his heels, says the chief police inspector to TV 2 News.
The search yielded results Thursday night at 8 p.m. The 21-year-old wanted man was arrested in a car along with two others. These are accused of having helped the 21-year-old in his efforts to avoid prosecution.
At noon on Friday, the motorist must appear before a judge in the Court in Frederiksberg. A prosecutor will ask to have the detainee remanded in custody.
Here he is expected to be charged with, among other things, negligent manslaughter.
