In September, the Finnish news agency STT announced that a new gang called Red Roots had been formed in Lahti. Police first spotted motorcyclists wearing Red Roots vests and badges last spring.
According to police, the Red Roots disbanded in August and split into two groups. Since then, both groups have been involved in the angels of Hell, officials say.
The Red Roots were formed to replace the United Brotherhood (UB) gang’s Lahti chapter. At the same time, an association group called Redrum was set up, which was responsible for UB’s subsidiary Bad Union, according to police.
This week, the District Court of Eastern Uusimaa temporarily extended the ban on UB’s activities, which was originally imposed in January. Proceedings aimed at the permanent closure of UB are scheduled to begin in late November.
UB was founded in 2010 by merging three criminal organizations known as Rogues Gallery, Natural Born Killers and MORE.
