Liberal Party chairman Jakob Ellemann-Jensen believes that it is good that the Liberal Party’s group chairman, Karsten Lauritzen, has acknowledged that he has behaved inappropriately towards women.
Lauritzen does this in Saturday’s edition of Jyllands-Posten.
– I think it is an expression of self-reflection that Karsten Lauritzen has given an interview in Jyllands-Posten, where he tells about an embarrassing and inappropriate behavior, which he now regrets.
– It is his own choice to tell the public about it, but his reflection and openness is important, because that is exactly what can help to create a cultural change when it comes to sexism and cross-border behavior, Ellemann-Jensen writes on Facebook.
The realization from the former Minister of Taxation comes after a turbulent time in Danish politics. The debate about sexism, abuse and cross-border behavior fills a lot.
Lauritzen admits, among other things, that he has had sex with subordinates. He has also groomed women.
– I also think it is good that Karsten himself has reached out and given an apology to the women whom he believes have behaved cross-border towards, writes Ellemann-Jensen.
– Whether the women have felt offended, or whether they have perceived Karsten’s behavior as an inappropriate scoring attempt, is not really assessable on the current basis.
– It is an example that there may be some gray areas in these issues, as boundaries are experienced individually, writes Ellemann-Jensen.
The recent debate has led to, for example, Morten Østergaard leaving his post as leader of the Radicals. In addition, Frank Jensen resigned as Lord Mayor of Copenhagen and Deputy Chairman of the Social Democrats. Both smoked due to infringement cases.
