- The Swiss bank Julius Bär has agreed to a settlement with the US Department of Justice in the investigation into Fifa corruption, and has reserved the equivalent of just over SEK 680 million to pay a fine.
- In the past, former employees of the bank have admitted and fined for laundering bribes for South American football leaders. Julius Bär has long been criticized by authorities and pressured to improve his controls on suspected money laundering.
- The ongoing investigation has led to more than 40, for example, football and banking officials either convicted, prosecuted or to admit crimes.
