The autumn storm, called Liisa, cut off power in many areas of southern and central Finland on Thursday. Eastern Finland was still in the evening, especially in Savo and Kainuu.
The storm packed more than 25 meters per second in a stormy wind, felling trees and damaging buildings. Hail and lightning were also present in some areas of southern Finland.
According to the Finnish Energy Association, by about 9 pm there were about 52,000 households with electricity, just an hour earlier from 64,000.

Slippery roads are expected on Friday
Driving conditions were poor in much of the country from Ostrobothnia to Lapland. They were forecast to be poor on Friday morning throughout southern and central Finland.
The storm wreaked havoc on rail traffic, leading to delays and cancellations in many areas. Trains between Orivesi and Pieksämäki were replaced by buses, as well as between Haukivuori and Pieksämäki.
Traffic management Finland predicted that the repair work on the line between Jyväskylä and Pieksämäki would go well into the night.
There were also electrical damage to the tracks between Iisalmi and Siilijärvi, and preparations were made to transport passengers by bus.
