SMHI warns of risk of sudden ice slide in large parts of central Sweden on Saturday. In Norrbotten County’s coastline, heavy snowfall can cause problems.
These are so-called class 1 warnings, the lower degree, for sudden ice slides in Värmland, Dalarna and Gävleborg in the south, up to Jämtland and Västernorrland.
– But we also see that it can be slippery in some other places, says Linus Karlsson at SMHI.
The cause of the slip risk is either that rain falls on cold roads, or that already damp roads freeze when the weather clears up and the temperature drops rapidly. The warnings apply from Saturday morning in the south, and from afternoon / evening in the north.
In the coastal area of Norrbotten County, there can be up to 15 centimeters of fresh snow on Saturday, which can cause problems.
We have an extensive rainfall area which has begun to move in. In Götaland, rain is mainly expected, but from Värmland and upwards there will be snowfall. It will pass on Saturday and then it will clear up more and more in the afternoon, says Karlsson.
Sunday offers sun chances, especially in Götaland and parts of Svealand. From Dalarna and north more cloudy is expected, and in the mountains and northern Norrland there may be some snow village.
