Fewer than three close contacts per corona infection receive guidance from the authorities.
It shows a statement for October from the Danish Agency for Patient Safety, writes Politiken.
The vast majority of these contacts even call for infection detection. The agency itself detects less than one close contact per infected person.
In addition, it is agreed that the infected themselves will inform an average of two more contacts about quarantine and tests, writes Politiken.
The approach faces criticism from Dale Fisher, who chairs the World Health Organization’s WHO Committee on Coordination of Global Disease Outbreaks.
He criticizes, among other things, that the infected themselves are responsible for informing their close contacts.
– The Danish system does not work when contact tracking is about the authorities getting others to do the work for them.
– When people get tired, they end up spreading the virus instead of being quarantined, he says to Politiken.
Close contacts will typically be those with whom you live or who are close colleagues at work.
The Ministry of Health informs in an email to Politiken that the solution of leaving the infected to inform close contacts to some extent is not without reason.
It has been chosen so that citizens are not forced to provide information about close contacts that they do not want to inform the authorities about. According to the ministry, infection detection is “generally effective”.
However, Minister of Health Magnus Heunicke (S) writes in an email that an upgrade of the infection detection is underway.
Updated guidelines – based on international experience – will be ready by the beginning of next week, according to the minister.
At the end of October, the Minister decided to strengthen the capacity of infection detection. This means that it can handle up to 3,000 new infections per day according to the Danish Agency for Patient Safety.
It is employees from the police, the Danish Agency for Patient Safety, the Armed Forces, the Home Guard and the Danish Emergency Management Agency who, together with external temps, carry out the work of infection detection.
In order to reduce the spread of infection, infection detection is carried out in collaboration with the infected when a person is tested positive for coronavirus.
