Already in the autumn of 2021, viewers will be able to turn on the television in four episodes and watch the storytelling about the common history of Denmark and Greenland.
In 2021, it is 300 years ago that the Danish-Norwegian priest Hans Egede went ashore on the Island of Hope in Greenland.
– The 300th anniversary of the joint history of Greenland and Denmark coincides with a current debate about the two countries’ relationship and future affiliation, says DR’s director of Culture, Children and Young People, Henrik Bo Nielsen.
– Therefore, it is a unique opportunity to take a closer look at how the two countries became part of each other’s stories, and how the relationship has developed and influenced societies, cultures and people over time, he adds.
The series, which is expected to premiere this autumn, will feature Nukaka Coster-Waldau and Lars Mikkelsen, among others.
DR has previously stated that they are working on a new season of the drama series “Borgen”. That work will continue in 2021, informs drama director Christian Rank, at today’s press conference.
In addition, in the new year, DR will work on a historical drama series about Leonora Christine as well as a new series for several seasons about Carmen Curlers.
According to DR, Carmen’s Curlers is the story of a Danish business adventure inspired by the real story. It takes place in the West Zealand provincial town of Kalundborg in the years 1963-1969.
