as well as women from other industries who have all been leaders of change in their own way – from politicians, lawyers and architects to actors, writers, athletes, singers and women who have sought to improve the lives of others in their community.
Prime Minister of Finland and leader of the Finnish Social Democratic Party Sanna Marin (35) is listed for the first time. The BBC cites Marin’s achievement as a leading coalition government formed with four other parties, all led by women, and his support for the right of transgender people to have their own identity.
Most of the women on the list are activists, scholars, or local politicians or celebrities unknown to celebrities. Some of the best known names on the list are:
- American actor Jane Fonda (82) – A two-time Oscar winner who has been at the forefront of social activism for more than 50 years and has always lent his voice to women’s rights, reasonably paid workers and, most recently, Fire Drill with Greenpeace on Friday to train and protest the climate crisis.
- Malaysian actor Michelle Yeoh (58) – Confirmed the role of Marvel’s first Asian-directed superhero film, Shang-Chin, and often speaks of a lack of Asian representation in Hollywood.
- Politician Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya (38) – Former presidential candidate in Belarus, where he led the national democratic movement.
- Pakistani actor Mahira Khan (35) – The Bollywood star, who is outspoken against sexual violence, refuses to accept whitening creams and supports the fight against racism.
- American astronaut Kathy Sullivan (69) – It differs from the fact that she is the first American woman to walk in space and dive to the deepest point, making her the most vertical person in the world.
