The government and support parties have agreed on an agreement for the car fleet of the future, which is estimated to lead to 775,000 electric and hybrid cars by 2030.
It informs the Ministry of Finance.
However, the ambition is to reach one million green cars by 2030. But initially, the financing is in place in relation to 775,000, the agreement states.
– It will be a crucial reorganization of road transport, so we can take very important steps towards achieving the climate goal in 2030. The agreement brings us a big step forward, says Minister of Finance Nicolai Wammen (S) at a press conference.
He refers to the broad political agreement, which is to ensure that Denmark reaches the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 70 percent in 2030 compared to the level in 1990.
– We have an ambition that one million green cars will be driven around Denmark in 2030. We will start by allocating financing for 775,000 cars. And then we reduce CO2 emissions by two million tonnes, says Wammen.
The government even played out with 500,000. But during the negotiations, the government has been pressured to increase the number.
The Radicals, for example, demanded one million electric cars in 2030, while the Unity List demanded even more.
The agreement on electric cars is the third in the green area in 24 hours.
On Thursday evening, a broad political agreement on the North Sea and a halt to the oil hunt were concluded. The agreement means that the 8th tender round, which would have continued oil extraction until the mid-2050s, is dropped.
Earlier Friday, the government, the support parties and the Alternative agreed on an agreement in the nature area, which among other things secures an estimated 13 additional nature national parks.
