2012: Earlier this year, police received tips that an Albanian man was involved in drug smuggling. Eavesdropping and surveillance were launched. The investigation was suspended in the autumn of the same year.
2013: Police received tips about another Albanian man. He too was intercepted, but after less than a month the police had to suspend the investigation due to lack of resources.
2018: After more than five years, where the case has been quiet, the Copenhagen Police receive new tips. They agree that an Albanian drug ring operates in Denmark. A comprehensive investigation is launched.
2019: On June 26, 2019, the police make a number of arrests. Arrests are also made abroad. The 15 defendants in the main case have been in jail since then.
October 2019 – November 2020: Five people have been convicted in cases arising from Operation Goldfinger. Among them the wife of the principal in the main proceedings. She received two years in prison for heeling.
December 4, 2020: Copenhagen City Court begins the trial against the 15 who are charged in the main case. Everyone denies guilt.
March 2021: Another trial against two accused men awaits. The case is a spin-off of the Goldfinger investigation.
September 2021: Judgment is expected in the main case against the 15 men.
