Two women, aged 33 and 43, died when the smaller plane crashed on the island in the Limfjord. According to Horsens Folkeblad, it was Mikkel Skjerning Gensø’s wife, Ina Skjerning Gensø, and her friend Marie Borg.
A total of four people boarded the small propeller plane on 30 August. The plan was to take off from Fur and set course for Billund. But during take off, the plane crashed and broke into flames.
It was the fourth person in the company who was the pilot.
Both men were flown to Rigshospitalet with serious injuries. However, the pilot was relatively quickly declared out of danger.
Shortly after the accident, the Accident Investigation Board initiated an investigation to find out what went wrong. This work is still ongoing.
Apparently the propeller plane hit a tree. When rescuers and officers arrived at the scene, they found the women inside the plane. Both men had been thrown out in connection with the collision.
All four people on board the plane were from the Horsens area.
According to a memoir written by Ina Skjerning Gensø’s family, the flight between Billund and Fur was a gift from the couple who were also on board.
