More than 40,000 people expressed an interest in the festive Reykjavik walking tour scheduled for Saturday. While everyone wants to attend the event, there’s no need to worry that the crowds will breach the ten-man public assembly limit. Reason: the event is online.
The event is hosted by Your Friend travel agency from Reykjavik, which specializes in Reykjavik walking tours.
The tour will be conducted by Valur Heiðar Sævarsson, owner of Your Friend in Reykjavík. In an interview with the media, he said he plans to walk the festive-looking streets of Reykjavik, discovering Icelandic Christmas traditions. Among them are 13 playful Christmas boys, their mother Grýla and the cruel Christmas cat. Traditional Christmas food and drinks as well as interesting books will also be presented.
“Because now tourism is the way it is, we have to adapt” Valur concludes. The idea for the event was born after reading numerous comments from people who regret the fact that they cannot visit the country or travel at all – he explains.
Valur admitted that he is excited about his first-ever online event, where he will use all sorts of tech innovations to improve the viewing experience.
The Christmas walking tour is free and there is no need to register. The tour starts Saturday – December 12 at 5:00 PM and ends at 6:30 PM.
