From Iceland - His suit is scarce and he is selling books by the kilo

Published December 10, 2020

The antique bookstore Eyþór Jóvinsson sells kilo after kilo in his Flateyri store, Indicator reports. He is also seamlessly dressed.

Jóvinsson’s store has a mix of literature: from ancient to modern. They also sell souvenirs and small items. Jóvinsson describes the store, which has operated as a bookstore for 100 years, as a living museum. The apartment next door to the store, which originally belonged to grandparents, is now on display.

Used books are sold by weight, at ISK 1,000 per kilo. Jóvinsson says he does not own a bookstore for the money, but keeps the family history alive.

Whether you are looking for fashion advice or an exciting new novel, Jóvinsson’s store could be the place to be.
