- The British author John le Carré has died after a short illness at the age of 89, his agent states via Albert Bonnier’s publisher to TT.
- John le Carré, whose real name was David Cornwell, devoted himself mainly to spy novels. The big breakthrough came in 1963, with “The Spy Who Came In from the Cold”.
- In January 2020, le Carré visited Stockholm in connection with his awarding of the Olof Palme Prize.
