Barcelona [Spain]December 17 (ANI): Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman believes his team’s ‘attitude and intensity’ in the 2-1 win over Real Sociedad could bring them back to where they deserve to be.
Koeman praised his team’s performance as a goal from Jordi Alba and Frenkie de Jong got a 23rd victory at home against Sociedad.
Barca controlled from kick-off but could not record a shot in goal for the first 25 minutes, as the home team ended up after Willian Jose’s 27-minute effort at Camp Nou.
But two goals in 12 minutes before half-time awaited the game in Barca’s favor and Koeman insisted that his players show the qualities needed to improve their uneven form.
“With this attitude and this intensity, we will be where we should be. [It was] certainly the best first half [of the season]. We were good with the ball and we pressed well, “Goal.com quoted Koeman after the match.
“The second half Real played a fantastic game. It was a high-level conflict with a lot of intensity. You can not control a game in 90 minutes. Wear and tear on the team has been impressive. We deserved to win for attitude,” he added.
Barcelona played a more reactive game after half time against the second-placed La Liga equipment and logged only 38.6 percent possession when they protected their lead.
Alexander Isak threatened a late equalizer but Marc-Andre ter Stegen blocked the Swedish winger’s effort, Barca’s goalkeeper’s only save during the second half.
Barcelona is in fifth place in the La Liga table with 20 points in 12 matches. Then they receive the 12th placed Valencia on Saturday. (ANI)
