The nominees are:
Elin Cederroos, boxing – 099-906 01
World number one. First Swedish to hold two of the big championship belts at the same time, WBA and IBF. This year’s big achievement was to win the WBA title via an impressive win in Atlantic City against an American. Elin is still undefeated as a professional.
Armand Duplantis, athletics – 099-906 02
Double world record. As a 20-year-old, he set two new world records in the spring. He also erased Sergei Bubka’s 26-year-old outdoor record and won all the competitions he participated in during the year.
Björn Goop, trot – 099-906 03
First to two. With the horse Face Time Bourbon, Björn Goop won as the first Swede ever the world’s largest and most prestigious trotting race, Prix d´Amerique, for the second time. A great driver control was behind the victory.
Henrik Harlaut, freeskiing – 099-906 04
Mostly the winner. He did it again and won his seventh gold overall in the X Games, the most prestigious competition in freestyle skiing. Henrik completed a series of jumps with the highest degree of difficulty and was awarded the Big Air gold.
Lag Hasselborg, curling – 099-906 05
European Championship gold and Grand slam. Via Anna Hasselborg’s last stone, the European Championship gold was secured against Scotland at home by the smallest margin. Add to that the prestigious victories and overall winnings of the Grand Slam Tour of Canada.
Victor Hedman, ice hockey – 099-906 06
Carried the team all the way. With 22 points in 25 playoff games, he led the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Stanley Cup trophy. Victor acted as team captain throughout the spring and was also named the most valuable player of the entire playoffs.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, football – 099-906 07
Unlikely veteran. Returned to Europe and Milan in the spring and immediately lifted the team to a European place. Continued goal manufacturing during the autumn and showed that despite his age of 39, he maintains world level.
Linn Svahn, skis – 099-906 08
Newcomer and winner. As a 20-year-old, Linn Svahn stormed into the sprint cup and won her first VC race as a senior already in the premiere. In total, there were three partial victories, which was enough for the overall victory in that cup.
