The country’s university library is reorganizing following the government’s call on Friday that all state and municipal activities that are not necessary should close.
At Uppsala and Umeå universities, students are encouraged not to come to the library to study if they can do it from home.
But many students have difficulty studying from home. The student Elin Svanborg who has dyslexia is one of them.
– It is very relaxing to come to the library because you know what applies when you are there – it is to study and everyone else does it. When I just sit at home all day, I get more stressed because there is never a real opportunity to relax. I can study all the time and I feel that I learn less.
How the different university libraries around the country choose to act on the basis of the new restrictions vary. While Uppsala and Umeå University encourage students to stay at home, Stockholm University chooses to be open as before. The University of Gothenburg and Lund announced on Monday that they follow Uppsala’s and Umeå’s line to encourage students to stay at home.
For student Elin Svanborg, it will be to continue studying from home for a while longer, despite the challenges.
– It is so much harder to concentrate and it feels very lonely, it is of course that it also affects, she says.
